Week 1- On the first week of our research project, we were given introductions and topic examples on what we should research on, in the first lesson, our class used a tool which can be found in Google. The tool we used called "wonder wheel". I am currently thinking about researching torture, I think it would be an interesting topic as it does not appear on news frequently. On Tuesday, the teacher had taught us how to use wikispace by sending us invitations to join. Once we had logged in, we were to create a page where we would fill in our journals. On Thursday, we went to the library and our teacher gave us some booklets. Those booklets contain information which may help us give an idea of what topic we want to do or may be the topic that we already chose. I have looked through those booklets to see weather i might want to do any of those topics given to us by our research teacher. Looking through those books has given me information on what I should do although none of the topics i have looked through interested me. Therefore I did not pick a topic. On Friday, we were to write our first journal.

Week 2 - On Monday, the teacher had showed our class a search engine called EBSO Host. This website contains information of preselected topics which the teacher said will help give us a better understanding of our topic. We were to go through articles and pick five on which interested us the most. We would also have to provide links to the articles so the teacher could check if we are on the right track. By the end of this week the teacher would expect us to have a clear idea of what topic that we are going to do. For my topic that I thought of doing last week, I have identified some problems that may arise while trying to research on torture. I would have no primary sources to back up on the information I would have found either on the internet or newspaper. Therefore, I have thought of another topic I might be interested in. That is, music. I would like to know why people listen to different types of music, what are the reasons they are listen to it etc. I will also identify weather types of music influence the person or not (in a bad or good way) to include primary information I would like to interview people involving music such as music students, teachers and also music composers. Here are some of the links below related to the topic that I am thinking of doing. Interviewing a psychologist may also be a good idea as they can tell us why people can feel a certain way while listening to different types of music.

This can either be from that the lyrics are meaningful or just catchy. Having to choose this article , I would be able to answer one of the sub questions I have came up with.

After I selected the articles that may help me with my topic, I have came up with a hypothesis. Hypothesis: Music Can Influence Different Behaviours. I will focus on answering this question. I have also have to come up with 4-5 guiding questions to help lead me to answering my hypothesis. It was a diffcult decision to change topics as it was week two and many of my classmates began to research further into their topic. Therefore,I was quite behind.

Week 3- In week three, I was absent for the majority of the lessons. Therefore I have missed on doing the research proposal.(research proposal done in week 4)

Within this week, the research teacher had discussed with the class on how to evaluate a website. She taught us to look and see if the site we are using would be useful and that it will not be bias intentionally. She had talked to the class and went through a research tool on Moodle called the CRAP test. This site us us information on how to evaluate and see whether a website is credible or not. When going through the CRAP test, we go through certain questions and these questions. This help us decide and evaluate whether the information we are reading is valid or not. The acronym of CRAP stands for: Currency, Reliability, Authority, Purpose. These are the four methods we use to evaluate the site.

Currency:
  • When was the last time the page was updated ( check at the bottom of the page to see when it was updated)?
  • Is the information you are reading current and relevant to the topic of interest?
Reliability:
  • Does the author provide sufficient sources or references for the information found on the web page?
  • Is there any sign of the author being biased? (telling only one side to the story) ( no information then the other).
Authority:
  • Who is the author?
  • Are there any credentials? Are they reputable?
Purpose:
  • Is the information the opinion of the author or are they facts? If facts, are there any sources evident/relible?
  • Who is the creator of the website( and are they stated on the website)? Are they a profit-making organization, trying to lure and sell you something?

So, before you begin to use a website, it is important to use these four methods to evaluate and see weather the source is reliable or not.
If the source does not contain all these methods, it will most likely be biased or unreliable.

Week 4- In our Monday lesson, we had a visitor who wanted to get some feedback on what we think of the Research Project. Last week I was absent for four lessons. Therefore i had missed out on getting information on how to do the research proposal. To be able to do the research proposal , I have to look at the home page on wikispace. With that i will be able to get ideas on how to produce a research project. Since I have missed out on doing my research proposal last week, I will have to do it this week. In our Tuesday lesson, our class were given a task on answering the five Y'sThis week, we also talked about the 5 W's. In order to successfully produce my guiding questions, i would have to include the 5 W's. The 5 W's are: Who, What, Why, When, Where.
The five W's will be included in my research proposal.

My Research Proposal
For my research project, I have chosen to research about music. When we think about music, what is the first thing we think about? What is it about music that makes us want to listen to it? In this research I will identify what is it that makes us want to listen to it? Is it because of the content of the lyrics or does it just sound "catchy". More importantly, i would like to research on what is the meaning of music and if listening to certain types of music will influence your behaviours’?
Hypothesis
To be able to find the answers to the research, I have made up a hypothesis: Music can influence human behaviour’s. Now that i have a hypothesis, I will need guiding questions which will lead me to answering my hypothesis.
Primary and Secondary Sources
To research on my topic, I would have to find different sources. It would both have to include primary and secondary sources. By having to achieve both primary and secondary sources i would have to find information on internet sites ( this is a secondary source). To be able to provide primary sources, I would have to conduct an interview to receive first-hand information. Some of the people I have thought of interviewing may include music teachers, music composers and people in general who listen to music. Since my hypothesis tries to identify different characteristics, I may try to interview a psychologist as to why people may have different behaviours’ when listening to different types of music. The reason of why I have picked music to do my research on is because I wanted to find: if listening to a certain type of music/genre may influence different behaviour’s. I also wanted to research on this topic as music is a big part of everyone's life. In every culture, in any country. When researching on this topic the capabilities that i will be focusing on are communication and personal development. To be able to conduct my interview, I would have to be able to communicate to the person and explain what I would want to get out of this interview. To be able to achieve this, I would have to present the interview in an approachable manner, having to ask permission if i am able to interview them. Before any of interviews and surveys that need to be written, I would have to draft my interviews and surveys and have my research teacher go over and correct them. This would also mean that i need to be well organised and get drafts in by the teacher before it is too late. Focusing on personal development, for me to be able to conduct interviews and surveys outside of school, I would have to be well organised. Before going out and just interviewing, I would have to contact certain people i would like interview or survey. This would also be a challenge as I would have to talk to them by phone. By doing this, it will also enhance my confidence to speak to people i have not talked to before.

My guiding questions
1. The Genre of Music
2. The Significance of Music, What is the meaning behind music?
3. Different Genre of Music gives us a different story?
4. Listening to music according to our mood
5. The music we listen to determines our mood

For now, these are my guiding questions which may help me answer my hypothesis.

Week 5- In Monday's lesson, Ms Woud had came into our research project classroom and showed us a website which can be help us with our research project. She had showed us a website called Zoomerang. This website allows you to make up surveys and post it online for others to fill out. It is recommended that we use this site to conduct our research as the surveys done online can be viewed from different people. After doing the surveys, you would be able to collate the answers and put them into a graph. Doing this, will save lots of time as the website will automatically analysis the answers and put them together according to the categories. To be able to create a survey online, Ms. Woud said you will need to sign up. She also explained what you need to do and how to create a survey, after you have signed up , there will be options of creating a survey or using ones that are already made.Ms. Woud had advised us to create our own survey. After having Ms. Woud explain the Zommerang to us, Ms. Mcinnes showed us a program which explains what plagiarism is and what are the consequences for doing it. The program also gives you information on how to properly paraphrase, quote or cite information if you are using someone else's work. I thought that this was a good program to look at as it also gives you a scenario in which we have to figure out weather it is plagiarism or not.
After Ms. Woud explained how the Zommerberg website works, I have signed up to use this for my research project. I will visit this site frequently to check on my survey that I will be creating. http://app.zoomerang.com/Home/ When I do my survey, I have also thought to print some of the surveys out as for when I go out and interview people, it will be unfortunate that I may not have any access to a computer.

Week 6- On Monday, our research teacher had shown us a feedback sheet on which she would be accessing us when we do our discussion. The discussion will take place next week, where one student will spend ten minutes with our research teacher to discuss on our topic and what we have planned to investigate to be able to get information. She has also advised us to bring evidence of our learning and further research we have done for our topic. In this week ,I have also created a survey in zoomerrang. When I have created the survey, many difficulties have occurred. First of all, I created the survey, and had difficulties of getting people to fill in the surveys. I have sent surveys through, windows live messenger and facebook. Doing this, the number of completed surveys have not been much. This will not create a majority or an accurate percentage to do my research topic properly. I will have to think of another method to pass these surveys around. This is the link to my survey that i have created.

http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/WEB22C27JJ8EH5
In the following week ,I will need to start organising interviews with people such as a psychologist or just with a teacher who studies psychology.

Week 7-For a better understanding of my topic , I have searched more EBSCO Host links will post on this page that are revelant to my topic. I will state why I chose these articles.

The methods that he tried to use was a 4D healing force in which he said works physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
As he said this, i was beggining to think weather i should be disscussing about the human brain, as this can be a big part of how the behavior of a persons behavior can change. Therefore I would have to check on other articles to confirm weather discussing on the brain is absolutely necessary.

For example, if you were to listen to heavy music while driving, it is more likely that you would get into a road rage. This article outlines the percentage of people who listen to heavy music while driving and had been into a road rage. I have picked this article as it would support me in my hypothesis that i have done. Music can influence different behaviors.

Week 8-

Week 9- On monday, the teacher had given us an idea on how to set out our essay for our research topic. In the introduction, there will need to be a word count of 150 words which outlines your topic, ideas and your answers to your hypothesis. In the essay it should also include your four to five focus questions that you have picked in the beginning of week 2.

Week 10- On our Thursday lesson, we were given examples of what an A standard project would look like. She had given us us an example of mo-ped boy and mosiac girl and the steps they went through in order to meet the sace requirements.
